Visual Foods Awarded BRC Accreditation for Sustainability Initiatives
One of Europe’s leading importers and distributors of speciality foods, Visual Foods, has recently been awarded an accreditation to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for their commitment to food safety, quality and traceability.
Visual Foods partner with leading producers from around the globe to source the best quality sustainable seafood, meat and specialist ingredients. Their focus is providing a first class integrated food supply chain specialising in the foodservice sectors here in the U.K and Europe.
Steve Sandalls, Technical Manager, who headed the project to obtain BRC accreditation, said, “There were a number of criteria and targets we had to meet to receive this recognition, including: having a senior management commitment, ensuring we have specifications for all our products, can fully trace all our products and have the most robust procedures in place. We check that all suppliers in our chain of custody, from farm to transport to packaging, have the necessary credentials thus facilitating this prestigious accreditation.”
Receiving such a high industry standard further cements Visual Foods reputation as the market leader within its sector and will only help to promote sustainable growth. Progress doesn’t stand still and Visual Foods will maintain a program of continuous improvement to ensure best practice and the on-going status of its BRC accreditation.
Visual Foods have been working out of 54 Hagley Road for a number of years, moving from Redditch to Hagley Road in March 2014. Human Resources Manager Jo Lane explained why the company moved from their initial Redditch location to Hagley Road and why they aren’t planning to move again any time soon, commenting, “From a transport point of view, Hagley Road is perfect. It’s easier to travel to than the centre of town, and is close to the main bus routes, as well as Five Ways train station. With Centro planning a stop outside 54 Hagley Road, recruitment-wise it ticks a lot of boxes too.”
“As well as transport advantages, we were able to do what we wanted with our office space, within reason. We could shape and mould it to our requirements, which suited us perfectly, especially as the building’s décor and overall appearance is already very attractive and stylish. Our office is often a hit with clients, who love the view we have over the second city. You never realise how green Birmi
ngham is until you look out of our window. What’s also proved to be popular with employees is the fact that there are a number of bars and eateries around 54 Hagley Road, so staff who like to socialise can do so easily. Our employees often go to The Physician, Highfields, Anytime Fitness gym and Blue Piano, all of which are located near the building. The building’s management team even hold sales in the reception area, including events by The Book People and Love Scents. “
Last but not least, Jo also discussed how much she appreciated the efficiency of the onsite management team, who often go above and beyond to solve problems that tenants may have.
