WYG Plans to Grow and Invest in Birmingham Office
Professional services firm, WYG, is looking to grow its presence in Birmingham thanks to the booming development sector in the West Midlands.
Based at 54 Hagley Road, WYG provides strategic and creative support in both public and private sectors, proactively helping clients to develop and manage built, social and natural assets through its technical expertise. The company was recently ranked third largest planning consultancy in the UK by Planning magazine. Now working regularly within Birmingham City, the largest local authority in Europe, WYG considers the City to be part of its success story, and wants to be part of the new chapter in the history of the second city.
With the arrival of HS2 and the recent announcement that Birmingham is to host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, this has only added to the buzz of activity, with businesses and investors seeing more value in Birmingham.
Keith Fenwick, Director at WYG’s Birmingham office gave this comment; “We are excited by the potential of what Birmingham has to offer, which is why we have recently employed Rajiv Sudan as a dedicated Business Development Director. He will be looking to maximise the new opportunities for WYG working in Birmingham. Due to this, we will also be looking at growing our internal team, across all disciplines’’.
Rajiv Sudan added, ‘’With HS2 and the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham, as well as the extension of the Midlands Metro line, we see great potential in growing our business here. With more people requiring accommodation, schools, roads and utilities, Birmingham has been recognised at our national Board level, as a key area for growth and business investment.’’
With this new focus on expansion, Keith Fenwick discussed how important the working environment is to the business and how happy the team have been at 54 Hagley Road. Keith mentioned that the Grade ‘A’ office space was great value for money compared to similar city centre property. Connectivity and the proximity of the City centre also meant that WYG has all the advantages of a central location at 54 Hagley Road, without the prices or traffic problems which working a few miles further into the City entails. 54 Hagley Road is on the main routes for a number of buses and is close to Five Ways Train Station, as well as the proposed Midlands Metro stop.
Keith also cited that the facilities and management team at 54 Hagley Road were exceptional, “Gary and his team are very friendly, and always on hand to deal with any questions. Employees also appreciate the facilities here, you see small, tiny food kiosks in other buildings as well as drab interiors – nothing like Caffe Kix or the welcoming interiors at 54. Our employees need to work in an inviting environment, a place where they are happy to meet clients and where it is easy for clients to reach us, which we feel 54 offers. We have enough space to grow our internal team, with hot-desking areas for colleagues visiting from other offices, as well as regular desk space”.
